Two open plan, modern and autonomous apartments (A and B) were created by the separation of an office space in the area of Plaka in Athens.
The project's objective was initially to find the optimal solution, in terms of dividing the space in two fully functional apartments, where all the needs of a home would be comfortably served, and then, the complete renovation of the space, its furnishing and decoration.
The design of the space is defined by geometric and simple lines with modern and Scandinavian influences. The light dividers between bedrooms and living rooms are the main elements of the spaces. Made of black metal frame, they allow direct visual contact between the two spaces, and serve both uses - bedroom and living room - as they function on both sides as a TV stand and as a storage space. Based on the building's facade, which consists of gray mosaics, neutral gray colors were selected on the space’s large surfaces, such as the floor and bathroom tiles, and in the fabric parts of the furnishings. Overall, the interior is mostly white, with gray, black and wooden accents in various elements, as well as in the decoration of the walls, in order to create intense and attractive contrasts. The color pallet is completed by camel and khaki details, and by the green of the plants.
