Located in an emblematic square in Lisbon, in the also called Campo Santana, the architectural proposal preserves the design of its own façade with exception of the pre-existing coating - tiles from the 90’s, completely dissonant. Here the opportunity arose to search for a new valuable exterior solution at the traditional Portuguese tile factory ‘Viúva Lamego’, in which a neutral pearl pattern was chosen, that gave the façade a very subtle distinction.

Still in this context, for the posterior façade a more pronounced intervention was chosen to take advantage of the exposure to the hills of Santo André (Srªa do Monte) and the Castle, therefore a large central span was opened to allow an amazing sun exposure. For this reason, the obvious option for interior organization was to place the fractions' social zones on this “front”.

Faithfull to the building’s pre-existing habitational pattern, the typology of one apartment per floor was maintained, changing completely the functional distribution of the fractions. Because today we live differently than 100 years ago, it was intended to update the concept of living to current standards.

This refurbishment highlights a building of an exclusively residential character, with 5 fractions,
differentiated by the architectural quality, materials and spaces.
