This elegant cottage by Amy Peltier Interior Design & Home has a casual-cool, California design language, and it was featured in a prominent national magazine for its sophisticated charm. The entryway greets you with shiplap-inspired paneling, light French oak floors, and a jute mirror by Jamie Young. The fresh look is complemented with built-in benches with storage and an abstract rug by Feizy. The couple that owns the home wanted to turn it into their forever home and create more space to accommodate their growing family. Designer Amy Peltier achieved a more spacious look in the living room by raising the ceiling from 6 ft to 10 ft, and bathed the space in a light palette and natural light. The natural look was further enhanced with a bobbin chair by CR Laine and a mini coffee table by Dovetail.

The kitchen and dining area was designed to create a warm, inviting space for the family to bond and spend time together. The tall pantry provides ample storage in the kitchen, which flaunts a scallop tile backsplash, brightly-colored counter stools by Stanley Furniture, and large doors that open into the backyard. The dining area is all about statement decor with a wood bead chandelier by Arteriors Home, a round table, and Chippendale chairs upholstered in a light-blue fabric.

The casual-chic look of the living room, kitchen, and dining area is carried forward to the master bedroom, master bathroom, and the guest bedrooms as well. While the living areas are decked with light-blue accents, the master bedroom was given a deeper shade of blue with a 6ft velvet headboard by CR Laine that is contrasted with a neutral-hued grasscloth wallpaper by Thibaut, and a shag rug by Rugs USA. The master bathroom is an oasis of tranquility with sleek scones from Hudson Valley Lighting complemented with a mosaic tile backsplash by Lunada Bay Tile. The guest room is all about making a statement with massive floral wallpaper by Clarke & Clarke and bright blue lamps by Circa Lighting.

While most of the home exudes an effortless sophistication, the kid’s room and bathroom are all about playful, quirky design. The highlight of the kid’s room is a built-in shelf that allows for study and play, while the kid’s bathroom flaunts a circular mirror and blue-and-white stripes that are an ode to the home’s coastal vibe.
