GRAND OUEST, Frankfurt am Main
- Be part of an inspiring history -

From the seat of the imperial palace to the banking metropolis of Europe — Frankfurt am Main is currently experiencing a strong growth in population as well as a construction boom. The “smallest metropolis in the world” or “Mainhattan” as its inhabitants loveably call the financial centre had its last population boom in the years of rapid industrial expansion where its population increased by 310,000 people in a very short time.

Important buildings such as the Neue Börse stockmarket (1879), the Festhalle der Messe exhibition centre Frankfurt (1909), the Osthafen port (1912) and the Royal University of Frankfurt am Main (1912), today known as Goethe University, named after the famous son of Frankfurt were built in this period.

The city on the Main quickly became an international trade fair centre thanks to its geographically convenient location. Book printing was invented in nearby Mainz and the annual Book Fair has been held in Frankfurt am Main since 1480. In the early years, the city celebrated great achievements as well as tens of thousands of visitors, especially when hosting some of the first motor shows.

It is during the time when Kaiser Wilhelm II, the last German Emperor and King of Prussia reigned that palatial architecture became popular. Near the Festhalle Messe Frankfurt, the Imperial Post Office was completed in 1907, providing work in the building for 241 employees. Today, this historic building is given a new look with the name GRAND OUEST.

The Belle Epoque period and the heyday of the grand hotels are revived with GRAND OUEST. The listed building known for its familiar face on the skyline will be transformed into a luxury class residential building. The neo-baroque façade with its triumphant entrance buttress, surrounded by columns, eagle figures and guarded by a stone lion's head forms an entrance of the most exclusive proportions. As part of the restructuring, the inner courtyard of the building will be uncovered and supplemented with light-flooded, trapezoidal arcades leading to the apartments.

“The GRAND OUEST features the highest entrance portal in the city. Its neo-baroque façade, the extremely spacious entrance hall and the architecturally attractive additions to the courtyard arcades all stand for the extraordinary quality of this property,” says Gregor Fuchshuber, the architect commissioned for the redesign.

164 apartments are being built in the domed building, which emits a great deal of pride. With completion as of 2020, people from all over the world will move in here. “International buyers are particularly interested in the expansive “Bel Etage”, which in this historic building is the equivalent of a penthouse in a high-rise residential building. On the first floor of the Bel Etage, social life flourished as part of salon culture," says Jürgen Meehsen, Managing Director of ESCON GmbH, which is exclusively responsible for sales. This is also the reason why the interior and exterior of the Bel Etage is the most elaborately designed, offering an expansive balcony and elaborate stucco decorations on the ceilings.

The project developer even went a step further for the top floor: The building was expanded with an additional level that is in no way inferior to the Bel Etage. The loft apartments in the front wings feature an all-round window area offering maximum brightness throughout the day. All penthouses have their own roof terraces. The class A-location offers a unique view of the skyline. The result is a symbiosis of life in an old manorial building with all the advantages of a new penthouse apartment.

More and more companies are settling in this strategic financial centre. Around 740,000 people currently live in Frankfurt, the population is growing rapidly and new residential quarters are being expanded across the city. Almost three quarters of all apartments in the GRAND OUEST have already been sold before completion demonstrating the great demand for upscale living space in the city on the Main. Frankfurt could soon lose its title as the “smallest metropolis in the world”.
