This well-appointed project by Kristen Fiore of Kristen Elizabeth Design started as a modest kitchen refresh which evolved into a comprehensive renovation, including a family room update. Kristen’s primary aim was to establish a well-organized, functional kitchen and family room for a family of seven, consisting of five homeschooled children all under the age of 10. Her vision included creating a kitchen that is not only modern and maximized with flow, but also offers easy accessibility and ample storage. To enhance the aesthetic, Kristen and her team incorporated elevated materials in the backsplash, introducing a subtle pattern that infuses sophistication throughout.
Kristen embraced Benjamin Moore's Classic Grey for the perimeter cabinets and Mysterious for the island, playing on the duality of visual tension. The decision to integrate bold paint colors was driven by the desire to introduce an element of fun that resonates with both the adults and children who inhabit the space.

The open concept design contributes significantly to the functionality of the space, considering that the kitchen and flow into the living room are the primary areas utilized by the family throughout the day. For a mom homeschooling five kids, impeccable organization is essential, and every item needed to have its designated place. The space also necessitated easy maintenance while prioritizing comfort and modern livability. This shines through in the high-performance coral-colored barstools, which not only inject vibrant color pops but are also easy to clean! Creating a space where adults can enjoy themselves while allowing kids to be themselves was a key consideration in Kristen’s design process.
