During the COVID lockdown in Sydney, myself, an architect, and my friend Nicolas, a cabinet maker, started playing with his boss's CNC machine, creating furniture and other objects while exploring the capabilities of traditional Japanese joinery using interlocking joints. It was during this time that I realized the tremendous potential of blending modern technologies with traditional craftsmanship to rethink our approach to construction, reduce waste, and ultimately pursue architecture in a unique and personal way.

The result of our experimentation was KABINA, an A-frame cabin that can be assembled or disassembled in just 4 hours. The key to this system lies in the compass A-frames, which allow for the rapid erection of the main structure in a matter of seconds. Once the frame is in place, we begin interlocking the pieces together, securing them with timber pegs. In essence, assembling the cabin becomes as simple as using a rubber hammer.

However, our exploration has only just begun. While we initially chose a triangular shape for its structural simplicity, we are already pushing the boundaries further, experimenting with different shapes and sizes to unleash the full potential of our system.

We hope that this small cabin inspires big ideas and desire to explore new frontiers.
