Kitchen/Dining room for Casa FOA 2022

Daniel Germani

In partnership with architect Daniel Germani, we designed this 84m2 Kitchen/Dining room for last year´s Casa
FOA (Oct/Nov 2022), a well-known design exhibition in Argentina. Our space was divided in four areas: a foyer,

a winter garden, a kitchen with an open island and a dining area.

The original building suffered damages from one of the most tragic events in the history of the city of Buenos
Aires, the 1992 bombing of the Israeli embassy. From a place of respect to its story and the restoration works done in the nineties, we approached the

design of an austere space in terms of aesthetics yet modern in functionality.

White textured plastered walls, original recovered granite floors, chose incense wood for the cabinetry with
doors framed in solid wood, a contemporary aesthetic with a nod to the past, gorgeous Dekton countertops

where we played with textures by incorporating grooved boards, indirect lighting to highlight the height of the

original ceilings as well as punctual and low lighting help create a bright yet intimate space.

The space welcomes us with a foyer where the winter garden is the main protagonist. Once inside the space
we find the dining area on one side and the kitchen, preparation and washing sector on the other. An island

becomes the heart of the space where cooking is an activity that can be done as a “family”. A space that flows

and that allows us to share intimate moments with friends. In the dining area we created a “relaxation area”

where the traditional bench is transformed into a “bed” where one can read, relax or simply be.

Dividing the space we find a volume that houses a refrigerator, built-in ovens, a dreamy pantry, a coffee
station, bookshelves and tons of storage. Everything is behind doors creating a stunning box that transforms as

needed showcasing surprising details behind every door.

The result: a timeless sophisticated kitchen that makes everyone feel a home.
