When an Anaheim Ducks’ hockey player looked to create a vacation getaway for his new wife and their families – they turned to Armina Interiors to create the perfect nest. As the California couple wanted to move back to Michigan in May and had an August wedding to plan – they asked Armina Interiors for a completely turnkey design that involved renovating the entire 5,000 square foot home.

“With a turnkey design, I have to help guide the client to understand what they will love to live with,” explains award-winning Interior Designer Armina Kasprowicz. “Since they are a young couple, they haven’t collected photos or artifacts yet. We went through a discovery process together to see what they love which came down to casual functionality, comfort and a monochromatic color scheme.

Not Decorated. Creating Character from Scratch.
“I don’t like ‘decorated’ rooms,” states Kasprowicz. “A home is supposed to look like it’s done over time which is very difficult to achieve with a turnkey design done long distance.” In order to make the design work with lots of whites and grays – Armina Interiors layered a mix of patterns, textures and organic forms to develop character in this modern space and give it the comfortable homey feel the couple wanted for their family homecomings. Integrating just the right bright whites and matte black accessories helped to balance the palette.

Made for Entertaining Inside and Out
The house has a great layout which revolves around the great room. The layout allows guests to move around from dining area to kitchen to living spaces to outside. Large windows connect the natural retreat atmosphere with the calm, comfortable interiors. Armina Interiors added plenty of lounging spaces with views of the outdoors.
