This European contemporary is sited on one acre in Santa Fe County and consist of the 3,233 SF main house and a 622 SF studio/guest house. The home was designed by locally born architect, Christian Alba as part of an international collaboration of architects, product designers and communication specialists who envisioned a green live/work space designed to promote community engagement and sustainability in Santa Fe. The project was known as lamesadevenn, and the home was designated the "Rancho". Its evolution was cataloged over multiple postings published on Dwell beginning in 2011. Custom design features by Alba include glass and steel throughout starting with a steel entry door measuring 8 feet high by 6 feet wide, black concrete floors and sliding floor to ceiling glass doors that open the entire living and dining areas to dedicated balconies and to spectacular New Mexico sunsets. This unique Santa Fe home designed in Bauhaus traditions is truly a one of a kind masterwork.
The home is now a private residence with additions designed by Christopher Alba, including a master bath and closet as well as a laundry room for the main house and upgraded fixtures throughout. The original articles in Dwell focused primarily on lamesadevenn, the design engine of the home, though readers might enjoy seeing the "Rancho" for the first time over a decade after its completion.
