From Studio Wills + Architects

The project is a renovation of a 1+1 bedroom apartment, consisting primarily of the reorganization of storage spaces to improve adjacencies and increase storage capacity to meet the needs of its new owner.

A compact utilitarian core, in the form of a timber ‘box’, is inserted within the apartment. It contains a shoe cabinet, a kitchen cabinet, a wardrobe, a bathroom, and other storage spaces. Circumambulating through and along the periphery of this ‘box’ is a continuous flow of spaces, looping through the Foyer, Anteroom, Living, Dining, Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom.

Curtains softly divide while connect the spaces through its visual translucencies. The result is a layered and delayed experience of an intimate city apartment suffused with soft lighting.
