The landscaping surrounding the pool creates a gorgeous view from every angle of the backyard. As big entertainers, the homeowners asked for plenty of seating and lounge options, to which our designers included several gorgeous basalt columns that can function as seats and additional patio nooks for outdoor furniture.

This magnificent water feature acts as a retaining wall for the hillside, a grand entrance staircase between the front and back of the house, and a stunning focal point! A bridge rock piece allows you to interact with the element and the night lighting creates a luxurious atmosphere.

With a large water feature, fire pit, pool, and stunning views, it is no wonder this project has become one of our favorites!

When these clients contacted Alderwood Landscaping, they expressed a desire for a design that took advantage of their large property and 360-degree views without taking away from the grandeur of their craftsman-style home.

From an architectural standpoint, the main challenge of this property was to connect the front yard landscaping (which included two basalt water features and a paver driveway) to the central landscaping around the side and back of the property. Our design team solved this issue by implementing a massive basalt boulder retaining wall with custom stone steps that worked into an extensive water feature system. The pavers around the property complemented the home's style and provided a natural flow from the interior outside.

For added interest, elements of fire were placed around the edge of the landscape. Fire cauldrons and a sunken fire pit provided entertainment features while still preserving the distant lake view.

Overall, our clients said they could not be more pleased with the results and constantly invite friends to their new paradise.
