From maciek

There is nothing ordinary about this house. From the outside, the traditional exterior of an old terraced house in Warsaw’s Żoliborz district; inside, a radical limitation of form and colour with an ultra-modern mesmerizing opening to the surrounding garden. A passion for Japanese culture and a love of 20th-century design became the starting point for the entire concept.
To create the effect the building was redesigned. The lounge unit opening into the garden is closed with a glass facade. The effect is emphasised by a light-coloured floor made of several-metre-long douglas planks. The austere design of the living area is a perfect setting for sculptures by Sigve Knutson and paintings by Grzegorz Worpus.

In the basement, we’ve created a home spa, inspired by a traditional Japanese bathhouse. The wooden Ofuro bathtub, spacious steam sauna, and space for massage mats let relax completely.

The four floors of the house are connected by a new staircase, a white steel structure finished with douglas fir steps.
