Nolan and Penelope's Dining Loft
My dining table is made from local black walnut, and I spent several days carving grooves into it by hand. It was actually my first piece of furniture and inspired my line of furniture that I currently make. The wall is made up of four paint colors which were watered down and layered. I wanted to use texture to soften the space and give the giant wall some character.
I've fully embraced becoming a morning person since moving here since the light is so beautiful right after sunrise. The kitchen is stocked with local and international ceramicists like Judith Salomon, whose work is seen above the cabinet, next to a Potawatomi headdress and a wooden percussion instrument from my mom's native Honduras.

Someone who loves hosting ten-person dinner parties and has a 100lb mastiff might not ordinarily consider a 500sqf studio apartment. But, after my last apartment (a 2,000sqf loft with draughty windows, a leaking roof, and creaking floorboards,) I decided to go from large and crappy, to very small and very nice.
Because I love having people over for dinner, I had to give up a living room. Essentially, my apartment is just a kitchen and dining room with a bed tucked somewhere, which doubles as a space to show off my art collection. I love waking up in it every morning!
