There are so many vistas throughout this renovation with beautiful framed vingettes afforded from inside and outside. The staggered Norman Cophenhagen Bell Pendants are timeless and a beautiful signature over the curved kitchen bench.

Completed 2022

Additional Floor Area: 27sqm

Set on beautiful, treed acreage this house had great bones and an enviable setting. Updated meticulously by the owner, an experienced builder, our clients had hit a roadblock renovating their living spaces. They wanted them to connect with each other and the outdoors without too much intervention.

Our brief was to unlock the floor plan challenges and create a connected, light-filled modern living zone. It needed to complement the existing character and provide an aspect of their beautiful bushland backdrop.

With these areas previously constrained in a narrow line, we added a new dining area out towards the landscape and popped the roof up to gain sunlight. This unlocked 180 views of the garden, the pool and the treetops.

A deep blockwork plinth creates a an indoor/outdoor dining seat and when the bifold windows are open this edge becomes a part of the outdoors – the perfect spot to perch with a drink, read or supervise swimmers in the pool.

This plinth extends into the alfresco area, helping to unite the spaces aesthetically and creating outdoor seating. An existing outdoor fireplace was retained and revived, becoming the focal point for this updated alfresco gifted seasonal use by the versatile louvred roof above.

The new kitchen extends from under the existing roof line into this new double height space. A large servery window links to the alfresco area making entertaining easy. With a repositioned entry, the lounge has become a place to bunker down by the fire and decompress.

We prioritised quality space instead of more of it to create an addition that nestles into and enhances the existing home.
