Putterman Residence (1986), designed by architect Carl Abbott FAIA

The home won numerous awards including the 2013 AIA Florida/Caribbean Honor and Design Merit Award for "Test of Time”. The Test of Time Award recognizes distinguished works of architecture after a period of 25 years in which the function, aesthetic statement, and execution can be reassessed.

The architect, Carl Abbott, is one of the original members of the renowned 'Sarasota School of Architecture' modernist movement which was founded by Ralph Twitchell, Paul Rudolph and Lido Shores developer Philip Hiss.

“Sarasota in the 1950s was one of the most important places in the world for architectural creativity, where the greatest design movements of the day came together. ” — Carl Abbott FAIA
