Situated in the Charlevoix region, on a site offering striking views of fields, mountains and the St. Lawrence River, this project is a gathering place for a large family united by their love of winter. This former woodlot is dotted with trails that were once used for logging and have now been converted into cross-country ski trails. The owners wanted to create a special place for friendships, activities and relaxation, accommodating up to twenty people under one roof and becoming a focal point for the whole family and future generations.

The project is built on the edge of the forest, opening up to the panoramic view. Two volumes meet to form a T that generates three wings: the entrance wing, the living wing and the night wing. Each wing stretches out in different directions to capture different parts of the landscape.

The cedar wood interior asserts the residence's cottage vocation. A large central core of fieldstone, incorporating a fireplace and circular staircase, marks the heart of the residence. The living space takes the form of a large open-plan area, with the living room defined by a few steps set into the ground.

The attic is designed to accommodate a large number of occupants and reduce the scale of the house. In this way, the volume of the roof generates a variety of spatial and lighting experiences, while offering new viewpoints.

This variety of scale throughout the residence, complemented by skylights, ground-floor openings and the large gallery, creates a privileged relationship with the landscape components of the site.
