April 2017 we first meet with the client in our showroom. He had come up from RI to MA in search of modern cabinetry for at that time just his kitchen, little did we know two and a half years later we would work in almost every room of his home. It started like most meetings brief into and then most important what he was looking for, we could tell right away this was not going to be any ordinary project - client had a LOT of ideas and most impressively he had searched the internet for every possible design idea he liked. We had to take all these ideas and make them work for one space, the kitchen. The main theme was dark wood. This stayed consistent thought out the years and we only took this idea and expanded on it into many other areas throughout the home. The idea of the home was something modern, clean, and functional that incorporated lighting and glass elements to break up the wood tones throughout. Gold accents were used on lighting fixtures to add a touch of shine. He wanted all appliances to be hidden and the use of pocket doors seemed to be a great solution for this. We used this solution not only in the kitchen but also in the bar area. Little to no hardware was used on the cabinets leaning towards a channel and electric opening solutions. Symmetry and consistency were a key element while design the space, only three colors were used throughout the main home.

The design of the space took about 2 years to come up with, and that span we not only did the kitchen but all three bathrooms, the bar, office laundry room, master bedroom and mud room. The client came to us with the idea of creating a space that was consistent calming and modern he wanted it to feel like a hotel but paired with the warmth of a home. To keep the space consistent we used three colors for the pallet, a dark wood called “Oak Tabaco”, a silky matt white and a matt moonlight grey colors, glass and lighting were brought in to create a warm environment while still keeping the space consistent throughout the home. Each room has its own style but very much is a replica of the previous room.

KITCHEN & PANTRY
It was important to create two separate spaces. The main area was designed for entertaining and as we say the “WOW’ Factor. elongated Island with lots of seating, the backdrop, pocket doors when opened like a show piece. All appliance lined up and ready to use. Lighting was a HUGE factor in the overall design of the kitchen and in the entire home. We did 12-inch cabinets on either side of the pocket doors with integrated LED lighting that can change color temperature depending on the time of day and mood of the space. All appliance is hidden and concealed creating a very symmetrical feel of the kitchen.

Symmetry was particularly important to the client. He wanted the space to be bold but calming allowing the design to speak for itself. We decided to do one accent on the island and that was to introduce a different color but still consistent with the rest of the space, we placed it on the left to match the cabinetry that is under the large windows. On the backside of this white cabinets we did glass cabinets with bronze tinted glass and black matt metal frame inside each glass cabinet we have routed LED lighting to visually separate this part of the island from the rest. A 36” induction cooktop paired with a downdraft was also added to the island allowing the person who is cooking to still feel like they are part of the space.

Behind this beautiful tall appliance wall, we have pantry space. The pantry was designed to have extra storage as well as 3 additional cooking modules. The first is a grill, teppanyaki panel and the induction module. We also placed an integrated hood for adequate ventilation.

The whole kitchen was done in our handless generation, we used a channel, push to opens and servo drives to keep the space exceptionally clean and modern. We decided to do also do two DW one that was a full 24” and the second an 18” perfect for wine glass or any overflow when company is over.

BAR
Keeping consistent with the kitchen we used the pocket doors to conceal the sink and open shelves, allowing a WOW factor when the pocket doors are open and you see this stunning stone counter top and backsplash, we also created a custom made sink in the same material as the counter and backsplash allowing the stone to seamlessly flow from one area to the next. Stainless steel open shelves with LED lighting was brought into the space to give additional lighting in the nook of the bar. We have a custom trash system, ice maker and fully integrated 24” Fridge hidden behind custom panels. We added an asymmetrical glass cabinet on the far right to display wine glasses, decanters and china.

WINE DISPLAY
The wine display was set across from the bar, we did three 28inch Miele wine units’ side by side divided by black high gloss 25mm panels in-between. Allowing each wine unit to be its own entity but keeping the consistency of the design by utilizing the dark wood cabinets above and to the sides of the wine units.

OFFICE
Our last room we designed in this house is the office. The office we really took many elements and combined them into one. The first element was the desk, the client asked that it is floating in front of the window to allow him to look out and the trees and birds. He also needed to maximize storage for all his books, so lots of asymmetrical but practical storage solutions were brought in. We layered cabinets on top of one another allowing the lines of each cabinet to go into the next and of course we brought in bronze tinted glass to offset all the flat panels.

Outlets were hidden inside the cabinets to allow him to have them when needed but to be completely hidden when not in use. We used two light sources on the tall glass cabinets to allow maximum illumination.

MASTER BATHROOM
The master bathroom was meant to feel consistent and calming, keeping all the same color on the cabinets thought out. We use our floating vanities with custom washbasin, the custom washbasin is a single piece that stretches almost 8feet long. It was important to have extra support built into the walls to allow this amount of weight. The clients choose wall mounted faucets to keep the counter as clean as possible. All drawers were on push to open system as well as the wall cabinets storage.

Working on this house we also designed cabinetry for the laundry, mudroom and master bedroom to accommodate extra storage space along with well designed elements.
