From Jaclyn
The main inspiration in this condo unit is the lofty ceiling space. That volume of vertical space alone lends a positive vibe like no other. The potential is great as there’s so much could be done with that kind of space. Not many condo units has the same potential. This is the second collaboration between the owner (Jaclyn) and designer paul+pris as they work very well together. They see eye to eye on many aspects of interior design. Jaclyn, who is also the interior decorator for this project, is always open to the designer's suggestions and rarely shies away from using new materials/products available in the Kuala Lumpur marketplace.
Jaclyn’s initial intention to have the original plaster ceiling height of 8.5-9 ft removed plus an addition of the mezzanine floor was what attracted the designer to the project in the first place.
Built up area of this condo unit is 1800 sq ft. This property was in a dire state originally - dilapidated and unliveable. It was a complete gut job which took 10 months to complete, a major and extensive renovation as the client decided to add a mezzanine floor and walls were knocked down to give way to an open concept between the living, dining & kitchen areas including a walk-in pantry & laundry room. The original plaster ceiling height (about 8.5-9 ft) was completely removed throughout the entire property, giving way to a lofty cathedral-like space.
Situated on the top floor of the condo building, the property has three good-sized balconies on both sides, providing green nature views on one side as well as unobstructed cityscape across the University Malaya’s grounds all the way to Bangsar South on another side. This provides the property an even more expansive feel as one enters.
