In 2017, a couple purchase a lot high on Skyline Drive in El Sobrante, CA with a view of San Pablo Bay, and begin the design process on their dream home. After a pause in 2018 for the birth of their daughter, then the global pandemic soon after, they watch building and materials prices skyrocket, and realize that the house they want to build is simply going to be too expensive... and could burn down in the next CA wildfire! With these considerations in mind, in 2021 they bail, move across the country to Asheville NC, purchase a lot high in the mountains with a view of the Blue Ridge, and restart the design process. Having broken ground in January 2023, they invite Dwell to follow their project, a custom pre-fab from local firm Logangate Homes, a company they first discovered in the pages of Dwell several years ago...
