Nestled on an expansive 11-acre site in Franconia, New Hampshire, this modern residence takes full advantage of the stunning views of Mt. Lafayette and the Franconia Notch.

At 4,000 square feet, the house is crafted as a series of stacked pavilions aligned on an east-west axis. Each pavilion serves a specific function, from living spaces and guest bedrooms to the primary bedrooms and garage, strategically positioned to maximize the natural landscape.

The main pavilion's front facade features backlit Corten steel panels with a pine bough-inspired cutwork pattern and three expansive 8’ x 12’ windows in the living room that overlook the pool, patio, and the mountains beyond. An overhang provides shade, enhancing comfort during the summer.

Upon entry, guests encounter a wide, solid walnut pivot door and walls clad with tree bark panels, connecting the indoors to the natural surroundings.

Inside, a central corridor links the upper guest rooms to the primary bedroom suite, highlighted by a glass bridge with a luminous ceiling, adding a touch of elegance and offering a unique journey through the home enveloped by the landscape.

The upper pavilion, housing guest rooms and a gym, incorporates wooden elements reminiscent of a rustic cabin, extending into the open kitchen's ceiling, infusing warmth into the space.

The profile of the design mirrors the natural contours of Mt. Lafayette and the Franconia Notch, subtly integrated into the architecture.

A sustainable approach is evident in the roof's design, featuring scuppers directing rainwater into a purposeful rain garden during storms.

This residence beautifully marries architectural design with the serene beauty of Franconia's landscape, showcasing a thoughtful blend of nature and innovation.
