The SalzHaus

SalzHaus is the third home of five to be constructed in West Salem Modern, an urban in fill concept neighborhood close to downtown Winston-Salem, NC. Completed in 2016 by award-winning architecture firm STITCH Design Shop, this Modernist mini-neighborhood was the first of its kind to be built in North Carolina; since completion, several Modernist developments have sprung up in other parts of the state. Interestingly, North Carolina boasts quite a high number of Modern homes, bested only by New York and California.

SalzHaus marries clean lines with several experimental elements - both subtle and aggressive in nature. The homeowners chose to work very closely with their lead designer at STITCH - collaborating on virtually every detail of the process. Their goal was to create a home that optimizes aesthetics, functionality, efficiency, and -- most importantly-- provided a safe and beautiful space in which to raise their daughter (who was born less than a month after completion).
