The Shack

It was a dream of ours for years to find raw wooded land and build a forever home and outdoor space. Welcome to what we lovingly refer to as the shack. We brought our love of creativity and design together to try and recreate our property after our favorite weekend getaway in Story Indiana. As a contractor, I have been collecting building materials along the way which helped contribute to our ability to build the shack for only $10K including furnishings. The two wood interior walls were from a 200 year old barn taken down here in our county. My wife and I were able to build this by ourselves (with the help of a neighbor) in 45 days. It is 500 sq ft with an upstairs bedroom loft. It has a full kitchen and bath as well as a washer dryer. Most of the enjoyment we get here comes from the peace of being in one of the outdoor spots we have created. We are convinced this property was made for the fall and we hope you enjoy our little project. Our next project is the silo bar which can be seen (albeit unfinished) in some photos behind our home.
