tresARCA has been developed around a simple expression of forms and materials. Separated into functions, the forms create opportunities for protected courtyards, cross circulation within all the spaces and the penetration of indirect natural light. The surface glamour and glitz associated with Las Vegas have been substituted with the rich history and soul of the Mojave Desert.

Materials develop a layering of mass as one moves from the more public basement to the private realm, providing the variety of textures and representation of the stratification of the nearby mountains. Crevices between the masses form pauses where landscape and water cool the space. The mesh screen provides both protection from the harsh sun for the interior spaces and a play of shadows among the forms.

Space is not determined by the enclosure. Instead, it is recognized as extending past perceived barriers into an expanded form of living indoors and out. Even in this harsh environment, one can enjoy this concept through the development of shaded and protected exterior courts.
