Under Stair Storage

This project adds cabinetry to the underside of an existing residential basement stair. The design strategy involves the desire to store variously sized objects away, while also displaying a few items. The under-stair space contains cabinet drawers with hidden touch release hardware. This gives the appearance of a smooth, continuous surface. Near the top of the available triangular shaped area, two open cubbies - in red and orange - allow the owner to display some antique books.

Many homes have a basement stair with space below that is underutilized. The cabinetry design provides a solution which combines practicality with presentation.
