The first floor of this compact townhouse was fully gutted and redesigned, so that a family of 4 could live more comfortably and entertain large gatherings of friends and family in the 550 SF space. By moving and rearranging the kitchen, Heather was able to nearly double the counter space; custom cabinets maximize every inch of storage space. Moving the kitchen also allowed for the creation of a much-needed entry mudroom, where built-in cabinets contain the clutter of shoes and coats. Additional storage cabinetry surrounds a new fireplace. The guardrail between the dining area and the lower living room was redesigned as a multi-functioning buffet table and doubled-sided storage/display cabinet. New large sliding glass doors in the living area extend to a redesigned deck, making outdoor dining and entertaining easy. The result is a compact yet family-friendly home in the city.
