This property was done in two phases. The first phase involved creating a relaxing side yard with a cozy lanai over-looking a swimming pool and the water. Relaxing, reflective and contemplative space with dense native planting to protect from the biting winter winds while maintain clear views to the water was the design goal. An infinity edge pool was designed to create an even more dramatic view.
This home was originally a series of buildings used for the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the two phases helped to unify the buildings into a relaxing tropical retreat. The final stage created a dramatic entry to the garden with large native and tropical trees to not only to help hide the view of the property from the street but to create a lush entrance to the property. Horizontal fencing, sculptural palms and large masses of tropical understory all help to create the sense of lush, expansive entrance
This project was used in a local Florida Keys magazine during the 1st phase with different images. This home was originally a series of buildings used as the Bay of Pigs communication center. On completion of phase two the site was transformed into a relaxing tropical retreat.
