The criteria for the Windsor Residence included a look of luxury, using the existing footprint of the kitchen.

"We needed to create a seamless a flow between the living area and the kitchen. It was not to be a feminine looking kitchen, a feeling of space was required to make the kitchen look larger than it was and neutral colours were preferred, but not white," Ms Parkin said.

"The end result was exactly what the clients were looking for. The layout was carefully thought out with its zones for cooking and food preparation, coffee zone and easy access to the fridge from the rest of the room."

Judy used fingerprint proof matte black finishes, which helped to create a beautiful contrast for the Invisible Marble, the main feature of the space.

"I then offset the black and marble with veneer to bring out some of the warm tones in the stone and the black ovens to emphasizes the high-end appliances that would excite any entertainer," Ms Parkin said.

"The fireplace in the living area was an eye-catching feature that created a focal point and the matching materials brought the two spaces together as one. The location enabled the owners to see the city views from the couch."

While the Kitchens Plus category for the KBDI Awards is judged on strict criteria, including ergonomics, construction, materials and style, people can also vote for Interior Blank for the People's Choice Award www.completehome.com.au/kbq...
