Spanning 600 acres, and encompassing a vineyard, museum, sculpture park, and hotel, the Château La Coste is a dream getaway for the design-inclined wine lover. Located in the idyllic French region of Provence, the estate comes from the mind of international hotelier Paddy McKillen, and houses a unique selection of site-specific art and architecture. Visitors can expect to see some serious heavy hitters from both disciplines nestled into the Château's fertile country landscape, including the likes of Alexander Calder, Louise Bourgeois, Ai Wei Wei, Tadao Ando, Jean Nouvel, Frank Gehry, and Kengo Kuma.

Besides the world-class art, Château La Coste also boasts Francis Mallman’s first European restaurant. The Argentinian chef’s signature South American approach to cooking meets French and Mediterranean inspiration, pairing wonderfully with the domain’s collection of house-grown-and-made wines. The restaurant delivers on the already-high expectations created by Mallman’s Chef’s Table appearance, showcasing what the chef is known for: slow-cooked meats and innovative approaches to roasting and smoking.

Additionally, the site contains a biodynamic, certified-organic winery. French architect Jean Nouvel's contribution to the Château was an aluminum-clad, state-of-the-art cuverie, a space that houses vats where wine is fermented and blended using the force of gravity. Nouvel's design was intended to preserve and bring out the unique flavor of the Château's terroir.

The Château’s hotel, Villa La Coste, sits above a garden-filled hilltop with expansive views of the adjoining Luberon valley and Mount Ventoux. Showcasing an impressive collection of furnishings, including Pierre Yavanovitch bear chairs and original Fernand Léger paintings, the atmosphere remains surprisingly laid-back thanks to the small scale construction; Villa La Coste contains only 28 suites. Each room spares no attention to detail—every villa is custom furnished by District Eight, and includes marble tubs and terrazzo-tile floors. Fully walled with an individual courtyard and library, every suite is a private escape into the best the French countryside has to offer.
