A piece of rock history is up for sale once again in Encino, California. The former estate of late music legend Tom Petty was recently listed after selling a year ago to music-industry executive Randy Spendlove. A renovation in 2018 led by designer Jenna Mattison modernized the very spaces where Petty practiced and hosted other musicians, updating finishes while paying tribute to the original owner.

The rocker lived at the location for many years, building this home in 1989 after an arsonist destroyed the original structure. Petty reportedly wrote his iconic song, "I Won't Back Down," following the traumatic experience, using the defiant lyrics as a message to his family's attacker. Divorce and foreclosure eventually led to a local development team purchasing the home and completing the renovation.

With nearly 11,500 square feet of living space, the expansive residence offers six bedrooms, as well as eight-and-a-half baths.
