Corona del Mar Modern Driftwood
The interiors of this home in Corona del Mar a block away from the ocean were done in a driftwood theme. The young couple who bought this home that was pre-built by a contractor, did not find that it suited their needs style-wise. So we simply cleaned it up to suit their needs and modernized it to a timeless fashion that everyone would love.
The outside of the home is Mediterranean and the inside is modern clean traditional. The kitchen shelves are custom eastern pine driftwood. We cut them vertically and finished them with a custom faux finish. The countertops are Beaumaniere limestone, the fireplace mantle is solid Douglas Fir wood, and the great room floors are floated Crema Marfil marble.
The pool table is in the game room for the kids. The most important thing is the gas station pump in the corner of the room, which came from the client’s grandfather’s gas station. The boys bedroom walls were lined with custom made wood siding to resemble barn doors. Their bathroom features maintenance-free porcelain tile and cut glass tile with jewel tone colors. The cabinets were stained to match the barn siding in their bedroom.
My favorite aspect of the project was the fact that I could totally change the look of this young home. The client and I had a wonderful time going through the process together and making their dream home become a reality.
