The living space has two expansive glass openings, which were placed to intentionally frame exterior views.

The entire home is clad in Nordic pine and ash timber, creating a unified interior that gives the impression of being more spacious than it actually is.

The enormous picture window in the living room frames spectacular views over the water, allowing the family to feel immersed in nature even in the wildest of weather.

Jagoda installed two Velux skylights in the kitchen and one apiece in the kids’ bathroom and the parents’. “Ideally, every room in the house has enough natural light that you don’t have to turn on the lights during the day,” says the architect. Makenzie Flom, photographer Cameron Wittig’s assistant, snaps a quick pic in the sitting area, which doubles as an additional sleeping space. There’s no TV, but there is a video projector; the white curtain can be drawn to serve as a movie screen.

The other two bedrooms are just as airy, complete with expansive, floor-to-ceiling glazing.

The primary suite is located at the far end of the home and features direct access to the wraparound balcony. Dark hardwood floors complement the room's neutral palette.

Each of the four bedrooms feature large expanses of glazing framing picturesque views of the wide-open countryside. While the rural position of the house presents spectacular serenity, daily amenities (including a well-loved local pub) are within short reach.

As with the main living areas, each of the four bedrooms receive ample natural lighting.

A bedroom is bathed in light while enjoying the seclusion of the tree-filled setting. Wide-plank oak floors contrast with the large format tiles covering the public spaces.

Brenda and Ruby sit comfortably on the swinging daybed, located in their screened-in porch. The wicker furniture, found in Maine, is over 100 years old.
