Bancroft

The Bancroft is a New England barn style home and one of our newest contemporary post and beam designs. It comes in at 3,055 square feet of living space, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and a three car garage with an additional 1,931 square feet.

The Bancroft combines the best of two worlds; an open floor plan and the essence of a New England barn. The house has many interesting features, but one that immediately stands out is the two-story window corner entrance. Even when viewing the drawing/plans, the first thing your eye tends to see is the unique front entrance.

The Bancroft’s entry design is both typical and atypical. How is that possible? Let’s take a look. From the exterior you see one corner of the barn is actually windows, windows on both walls expanding two levels; fairly atypical. On the interior, the entry functions just as an entry should, a reception area and a staircase; typical. However, that’s pretty much the end of typical with this entry and the entire barn house. Expansive open views of post and beam architecture, lofted spaces adding visual interest, an upper level bridge (catwalk style), and large and small barn windows create a completely custom design.

Built within the footprint of a rectangle, the contemporary post and beam barn home is not only a visual stunner but an energy efficient green build that utilizes highly efficient windows, doors, polyisocyanurate insulation and meticulous house wrap detail to create an impeccably sealed “building envelope”. This Yankee Barn home is designed to take passive solar gain into account (as are all Yankee Barn Homes).
