Cerro la Higuera House was designed by Rodrigo de la Cerda @rod.delacerda_arq , it is located in Zapallar, Chile.
It is emplaced on the top of the fig tree hill, which maintains a forest of native trees in the area, and has a privileged view of the Zapallar bay.

Clients want the house to be part of the environment, privileging the view and the trees that surround it. So the idea was to project the house 3mt ahead of the slope of the hill and design a terrace that would connect the house with the hill, and then keep the existing trees allowing them to cross it and be part of the house.

The windows were project to the front and back connecting the ocean view from the terrace and obviously from the inside. It can be said that it achieves a transparency that allows a view of the sea through the house.

These windows open completely, spatially connecting the inside of the house with the outside and letting you feel that the trees are practically inside the house, or rather integrating them and making them part of it.

The house was built by Constructora DGA in 7 months. The challenge was to bring 10x10-inch pillars in 6mt and 12x4-inch beams in 6mt, which would hold the house in the air, to allow the slope of the hill to pass and achieve the terrace that allows the existing trees to be crossed.

This was designed on one floor, with the bedrooms at both ends and thus leaving a central open living/dining/cooking space, which connects with the terrace and the sea view. Well, all the bedrooms also have a view of the Zapallar bay.

It is made almost entirely of wood for the benefits of the material exposed to the coastal climate.

Outside, the cladding is treated and protected black wood, while inside the sky, walls and floors are light colored, which gives it more warmth and you can appreciate the luminosity with its different tones in the mornings and sunsets, that the owners enjoy.
