When you walk through a house for the first time, considering putting in an offer, you mostly look at the bones. Where are the walls, and what kind of supports are in place, ceiling heights, etc. This house, HA, unfortunately, was a complete and utter fail. The existing “master” bathroom (and I use quotations here intentionally) was literally 3 feet deep and 5 feet wide, which included the toilet and a tiny vanity. The shower was squeezed into a tiny little cubby behind the door and was genuinely ghastly. The second bathroom in this house (which shared a wall with the master bath) wasn’t much better. It was twice the size, but that’s not saying much, but was entirely rotted from floor to ceiling. Years worth of water damage had created an entirely unusable space filled with black mold. Not ok!

Demo started immediately to remove any trace of mold, mildew, and bacteria. Once we were down to the studs, we created an entirely new master bathroom, combining the space of both previous bathrooms. This gave the new bathroom two windows, and an appropriate sized footprint for a master bathroom. We opted for a full wet room design, which creates a super-functional space with the double shower and bathtub behind glass. This design is a great way to save space, really accentuate a double shower opportunity, and is incredibly functional for those with kids. Your kids can splash and play and the water just splashes right onto the shower floor! Then when it’s time to get out and dry off, there’s no worries about leaving big puddles, because you’re still in the shower!

The best thing about this bathroom design, besides that gorgeous tub and the incredible double shower, is the bonus of having 2 windows! The natural light created in this space is unbelievable and a total bonus when you’re putting on your face in the morning!
