KUBO : Our Little House on a Hill

KUBO sits on top of a small hill in a small historical town in the central north island, sandwiched between Tongariro and Whanganui National Parks. Our little house offers panoramic views of rural New Zealand with Mount Ruapehu looming on the horizon and the tip of Mount Ngauruhoe (Mount Doom) beyond.

At 77 square meters, it is a study on how every interior space is utilised to the fullest - compact yet offers the comfort of a house twice it's size. KUBO has an open plan living/dining/kitchen, three bedrooms (the master bedroom has an ensuite and lounge with small pantry), two lofts, a bathroom and a hallway with laundry cabinet. The layout was designed in such a way that the house can be divided into two separate units - a 52 square meter unit we call the Tui Suite and the Fantail suite, a smaller 25 square meter studio consisting of the master bedroom area.
