Lakeview Residence
Walking up to the home from the street, the pavers meander along and connect you from the front porch to the rear yard. The front canopy was fabricated from a large steel frame with hidden gutters that connect to rain chains and direct water into the landscape where it is absorbed by the planting beds. The original mainfloor brick exterior was repaired and maintained, and the new matching brick was added to the Northside of the upper floor. The large gable was clad in cedar shingles.
Front patio with beautiful sunset views. The roof structure was added with the second floor addition to keep a neighbor friendly stoop and provide additional outdoor space protected from the elements. The original 1917 brick exterior was maintained and new windows and doors were added with details appropriate to the age of the original home.
The kitchen took the place of the original bedroom and bathroom and the location allowed for a long peninsula that could double as an eat-in bar area. Grey washed oak cabinets were used to compliment the natural white oak floors with white quartz countertops. The microwave was designed to be below the counter, freeing up space on the countertops.
The design of the staircase was carefully thought through to maximize space below, keep the light from an existing outside window, and create an additional element of warmth. The owners had a baby shortly after moving into their new home, and a temporary baby gate was added for the little ones safety.
Master Bedroom with vaulted ceiling and western views to mountain and nearby lake. While the footprint of the house is modest, and the ability to vault the ceilings makes the spaces feel larger then they are. A crisp white was used on wall, trim, and ceilings to allow natural elements like the floors, doors, plants, rugs, and furniture provide the vibrancy.
