From Dori from Rancho Contento

It's the happiest place in the High Desert. (Really, it is!)

Established in 2002 as a hobby ranch by “Cowboy Ed,” Rancho Contento is ready-made for a good-times desert getaway.

10 beautiful acres with scenic views of both the Joshua Tree National Monument and the peaks of the San Jacinto Mountains. This end of the road western-inspired desert oasis is ideal for family getaways, romantic escapes, creative retreats and celebrations of all kinds.

The recently renovated ranch house combines a modern cozy design together with many of Cowboy Ed’s original art installations, each with a story. Explore the grounds and connect with nature and wildlife. Take a hike among desert blooms. Look for birds including Quail and Red Tail Hawks. Listen for coyotes at night while stargazing into the Milky Way galaxy.

Visit. Enjoy a golden cotton candy sunset. Stay awhile. And we’d love it if you helped feed the chickens, too :)

Find your desert fun—and zen. Happiness awaits at Rancho Contento.
