The primary goal of this project was to convert a dull 1950s rancher into a unique home for a single parent and their child, all within a tight budget. Key focus areas were the great room and kitchen, expanding the master bath, and adding a play loft to the child's bedroom.
The exterior of the house was painted black to create a striking impact, complemented by palm trees as architectural features framed by custom planters. The front lawn was replaced with eco-friendly green turf to conserve water.
The kitchen, a sleek custom design by Space Theory from Henry Built, features handcrafted components for both functionality and aesthetics. A spacious island enhances workflow, storage, and additional countertop space for cooking and entertaining, providing a natural gathering spot for guests and family.
The child's room is thoughtfully adorned with playful decor, including a custom loft that adds architectural charm and functional space for play and rest. Natural light streams in through a skylight, and a clever loft extension over the master bath creates an expanded play area for the child. The master bathroom offers a spa-like ambiance with a simple palette, natural materials, and textured finishes.
