This project combines innovation and pragmatic urban planning, aiming to address critical deficiencies in the contemporary real estate landscape. Within a market saturated by bloated dwellings overly focused on accommodating vehicles, we identified a notable lack of solutions tailored to pressing societal needs such as housing density, ecological stewardship, and human-centric design.

Our primary goal was to create agency for prioritizing the issues identified above. Initially, we envisioned a modern bungalow court, comprising either a quartet or trio of residences, aligned with SB9 or JADU regulations, respectively. Unfortunately, challenges posed by local municipal authorities, including prolonged entitlement processes and associated costs, rendered these propositions infeasible.

Subsequently, we adjusted our vision to encompass the creation of two meticulously crafted homes: a renovated and expanded main dwelling and a complementary standalone accessory dwelling unit (ADU). Situated within a spacious plot of land, both structures were conceived as single-story buildings, featuring voluminous interiors and expansive outdoor spaces.

The main dwelling is a composition characterized by an arrangement of three rectilinear volumes. The rehabilitated Ranch-style footprint serves as the hub for communal spaces and private chambers. A seamless extension, flanked by lush courtyards, accommodates the primary living areas and auxiliary bedrooms, each distinguished by subtle variations in width and articulation. In contrast, the ADU, with its L-shaped configuration, provides a secluded enclave within the property, fostering an atmosphere of privacy and exclusivity. Its interior layout, featuring lofty ceilings and spacious living areas, exudes a sense of openness and sophistication.

Construction-wise, we adopted a prudent approach, prioritizing locally sourced materials and standardized building components. Energy efficiency was paramount, achieved through the integration of vinyl units and reliance on renewable energy sources such as on-site solar power and rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation.
In essence, our endeavor embodies a conscientious blend of architectural ingenuity and sustainable design principles, aimed at fostering a superior standard of residential living conducive to multigenerational habitation and environmental stewardship.
