On February 15, 2024, the coastal California landmark, sometimes called "the Glass Church," closed indefinitely due to accelerated land movement that’s threatening the structure, exacerbated by recent heavy rainfall. On May 13, Wayfarers Chapel representatives announced plans to disassemble—and potentially resite—the church to preserve as much of the structure as possible.
