The dark facade that covers Das Schwarze Haus has been preserved through carbonization, instead of through chemical treatment. Buero Wagner's design sits quietly in the countryside, a slender volume rising out of the trees.

A one-bedroom unit is available to lease on the ground floor of the Spruce Apartments in Dalston, London. The interior of the brick-clad building by award-winning architect Amin Taha employs cross-laminated timber (CLT), which provides a sustainable alternative to concrete and steel.
