1930s Brooklyn Refresh

In New York, space is everything and we'll take every nook we can get! A need for dedicated office space inspired Alicia to design a built in desk & bookshelf combination within the living room. This beautiful Scandinavian inspired unit from Bludot is further elevated with a rich vintage cigar leather chair from Restoration Hardware.

Focusing on the dining space of the apartment, we had to create a solution to accommodate a stand alone fridge while maximizing dining that was also inviting! We did this by sourcing an ultra hip Smeg retro refrigerator in white which also elongated the space. Now, the right dining wall offered the perfect space to tuck a cozy yet modern grey tufted bench. The space is finished off with a beautiful marble tulip dining table and linen/mahogany wood dining chairs which pop with our other "brown" elements found in the West Elm walnut credenza, original hardwood floors, and cigar leather office chair from Restoration Hardware.

A major theme of this design is multi-purpose! Our entry way credenza is not only a spot to set down and store your everyday items, but also a perfect area to serve dinner and drinks to the adjacent dining nook. With the credenza's overhead shelving, dining and entertaining is as easy as it is stylish.

A wide view into the living space of this apartment captures the amount of space Booklinteriors was able to maximize by tucking great pieces of functional furniture into just the right nooks and corners. A bright tan sectional and cozy charcoal rug anchors the living space. Easy to move coffee table, accent table, and side chair allow this space to transform into game day, movie night or simply dinner together on the couch. The Bludot media console in a blue grey finish maintains the color palate of the apartment. Natural elements bringing out the Bohemian in this modern and cool space are found in the original wood burning fireplace, Serena & Lily plant stools, woven and wood side chair, and a variety of luscious green plants in terracotta pots.

White oak cabinets with stainless steel appliances, satin nickel hardware and simple Scandinavian inspired decor make this space both pop and blend in seamlessly with the updated features of the apartment.

The design challenge for our first time cohabitators was to blend a soft feminine bohemian style with a more masculine clean-lined approach. Alicia did this successfully by bringing together beautiful metal and wood materials with cozy textures. Masculine materials are found in the original hardwood floors, an extra large Horchow floor mirror, West Elm dark copper and wood ceiling fan, Schoolhouse Electric brass swing sconces, and statement-piece wall-mounted guitar. Now adding all the plushness to make this room sleep-in worthy, Alicia incorporated Hawkins flax linen sheets, a delightful patterned Rejuvenation rug, natural woven hamper by Citizenry, and an assorted mix of accent pillows.
