We took this classic midcentury travel trailer and converted it into a 250 sq. ft. creative office space. Originally built by the Spartan Aircraft Co. in Tulsa, OK--famously owned by J. Paul Getty--this 1953 Royal Spartanette was in salvage condition we we started. Not only was the entire interior gone, half the roof and front end were missing as well. As a result we had a blank slate for our reinvention. Referencing the all Birch interiors of the original, we used new select-grade Baltic Birch throughout, including huge expanses of handmade edge-grain countertops with multiple cascading end caps. In the rear is a private office space with it's own entrance, and pocket doors into the main space. The front of the trailer houses a dinette-style conference table with a vintage light fixture above. Also included is a built-in bookcase with a fold-up auxiliary workstation. Two runs of recessed LED lights, complete with dimmers, provide lighting options for either ambiance or productivity depending on the time of day. Premium insulation and multi-zone ductless A/C and Heat by Mitsubishi provide year-round comfort.
