When designing an expansive desert oasis in Paradise Valley, Arizona, staying out of nature’s way is key to success. Designer Emily Yeates of Urban Revival and architecture studio The Ranch Mine collaborated to create a 5,556-square-foot home that takes all design cues directly from its dramatic desert setting. Throughout the 6-bedroom, 7-bathroom home, neutral concrete, natural woods and a palette of quiet colors mirror the natural calm of its setting.

"When we were approached to furnish this home, we knew it deserved something exceptional," says Yeates. "The goal was to create an inviting environment that maximizes seating for entertaining, while embracing the expansive desert landscape."

Yeates' design concept focuses on an open layout that encourages connectivity and conversation via curved sofas and boucle swivel chairs strategically positioned to create intimate gathering spaces. "The curved forms of the furniture soften the linear architecture of the home and establish a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces," explains Yeates.

Yeates selected materials that not only exude elegance but also harmonize with the desert palette. Cream modular curved sofas in a performance fabric, complemented by boucle swivel chairs and steel coffee tables, create a refined yet cozy ambiance throughout the home.

Overcoming the challenge of the space's narrow, elongated layout and soaring ceilings, Yeates' focused on creating a sense of warmth and intimacy. "We wanted to ensure that every corner of the home felt inviting," she says. "The furniture was carefully chosen to balance the space and create a sense of harmony. It's a space where you can relax and unwind, surrounded by the natural beauty of Paradise Valley."
