In this project the clients had bought a second-hand flat in order to renovate it according to their needs and tastes. They wanted to get away from the typical new-build flats without personality where neutral colours and white and conventional materials predominate.

The new design has achieved the "look" they were looking for, a modern and sophisticated flat with a decorative style inspired by hotel rooms with dark colours, mainly black, with shiny and refined finishes.

After the comprehensive renovation, the interior layout has been transformed, with some specific modifications to the load-bearing walls, obtaining an integrated kitchen in the living room and more space to install custom-made wardrobes according to the needs of the clients.

Open-plan Kitchen

The kitchen has an island that houses the cooking area, leaving the shelf for the tall units to group appliances and storage, and the cleaning area in the central part. The worktop by the manufacturer Sapienstone stands out, with a subtle white veining on a black base that reproduces the famous Marquina black marble.

In the centre of the living room is the dining room, which is also very well framed when viewed from the hallway. This area is presided over by a beautiful Mizar pendant lamp by Vilaimport, a table with a finish that matches the kitchen worktop and chairs upholstered in black shearling-effect, by Kave Home, which gives it a very contemporary feel.

In this space, the TV cabinet (from Tegar, as the rest of the furniture) stands out for its large glass cabinet with interior light, and the wall cladding with large Sahara Noir Polished pieces from Energie Ker, characterised by the contrast of its white and gold veins, and its glossy finish, with an exquisite result. In this same space, on the side wall, a roll-up screen was installed for watching films or playing video games from a projector.

Bathrooms

There are two very functional and stylish bathrooms in the flat. In both of them, a wall-hung unit in a charcoal finish, a mirror with built-in front light and a wall-hung toilet in Roca's Onix finish have been installed, gaining great visual lightness. The largest bathroom has been tiled with black tiles with a glossy white vein, which creates a powerful contrast with the white bathtub, washbasin and paintwork. In the smaller bathroom, dark and light tiles have been combined to create spaciousness.

"En-suite" Bedroom

Continuing with the master bedroom, where a spectacular "Art Déco" inspired headboard has been installed, custom-made by Marcasal, upholstered in grey velvet with vertical lines and quilted shapes; and backlit on the sides that not only creates a very sophisticated lighting but at the same time adds dynamism to the Vescom wall covering with vertical lines installed on the rest of the wall. Suspended bedside table and a pendant lamp with a glass sphere and gold structure were placed on each side. In the bedroom, a dressing room has also been created in parallel, with one of the wardrobes acting as a divider and at the same time as a support for the television.
Entrance hall

The hallway furniture is another relevant element of this project. It consists of a cupboard with a recess with hooks and a small bench for taking off one's shoes, with a wooden finish that contrasts with the black of the cupboards.

Other interesting facts

Apart from the rooms we can see in the pictures, the property also has an spare bedroom and there is a cupboard in the hallway where the boiler and washing machine were installed; right in the entrance hall there is also a small storage room.

Finally, special emphasis has been placed on keeping good wireless connectivity throughout the flat, light control and energy efficiency.
