Artemisia Zero-Energy Home

This innovative, 100% electric zero-energy nightly vacation rental home is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States. More remarkable is that this home was designed and built by two couples, who traveled four hours from Seattle on weekends to oversee the heavy construction and then complete much of the finish work themselves before opening their doors to nightly rental guests. With its high-performance envelope, passive solar design, heat recovery ventilation
(HRV), and use of heat pumps for heating/cooling, water heating, and even the dryer,
the home’s annual home energy use is offset by a 5.7kW solar panel array. No oil,
propane, or other fossil fuels are used.
