Located on a corner in the Chacarita neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Atelier Fuerza is a space that reflects and responds to the rhythm and character of its urban surroundings, where former industrial structures coexist with a renewed creative energy. The project embraces this dynamic, resulting in architecture that integrates seamlessly into its context.
Guided by the principle of preserving what already exists, the project transforms a former pizzeria into the new home of Atelier Fuerza. Rather than concealing its past, the design highlights and reinterprets it—making materiality a central element of the space’s identity. Rough plaster finishes, exposed textures, and visible traces of the building’s previous life reveal the construction process and embrace imperfection as part of the space’s character. The result is a design that captures the authenticity of the surrounding urban environment, blurring the line between inside and out.
The project creates two modes of interaction with the public. One is fleeting, designed for passersby to engage briefly at the side counter—allowing the café to integrate naturally into the neighborhood’s daily rhythm without interrupting the interior flow. The other encourages permanence, inviting visitors to inhabit the space both inside and outside, to pause, and to observe the life of the street and the nature that surrounds it.
Atelier Fuerza is not just a café—it’s a reflection of local identity, where the new and the traditional coexist in harmony.
