A light-filled link to the present.
A historic Grade II Oxfordshire farmhouse and barn have undergone a sympathetic yet bold renovation celebrating light and connectivity. From a kitchen transformation in the main house through to the connecting entertaining barn, our clients’ design vision is realised by this contemporary, multi-functional hub for family living that retains the charm and splendour of the original and the old.
The adjoining barn has been modified to provide two double-height spaces for entertaining and spending time with family and friends. New exposed timber beams retain the original character of the barn, while new glass doors introduce plenty of light and connect the barn with the rest of the home.
We raised the height of the kitchen into the previous roof space, completely transforming the space. New glazing across the whole façade floods the now triple-height ceiling with natural light, and the contemporary intervention of rustic Corten fins provides solar shading and a sensitive yet contemporary addition to the heritage building envelope.
