Camp Kee O Nekh

This breathtaking traditional lakefront Great Camp Estate originally built in 1908 by a wealthy family from Georgia. The Great Camp, known as Camp Kee O Nekh, has five large bedrooms plus a loft, three full Baths, 7.8 acres, stunning lake views, swimming and boating, a lovely screened-in porch and a sweeping deck. Known by its long time owners as the 'Good Karma Camp', Camp Kee-oh-Nekh is one of the original Great Camps built in the early part of the 1900s. The movement sought to bring the outdoors inside, and unlike most homes in the Central Adirondacks of New York State, four generations of owners have sought to keep the interior and exterior much as it was originally intended.

The Camp has 315 feet of lakefront, which looks out toward the Adirondack Wildnerness.

Set on a peaceful, quiet Long Lake in the center of the Adirondack 'kingdom' this place is unique like no other. Birch bark 'wallpaper' lines the great room, tree-cut original beams, and hardwood floors, are more than a clamping experience or even a typical retreat. Furnished with authentic antiques throughout, including the original dining room table, which was built by the Caretaker of the Camp in the Adirondack Wrapped Furniture style, and is featured in the book, Adirondack Furniture.

The Camp includes a swimming dock (attached to land with gangplank) and a floating boat house with 315 feet of waterfront. The estate property is secluded (with its own private road). There are two large stone fireplaces in the living and dining rooms, an original dining room table and chairs.

The home boasts the largest lean-to still standing in Long Lake, as many Great Camps were destroyed after being abandoned. The 20-foot Lean To seats 12, with a cooking fireplace and overlooks the lake for sunset and evening bonfires.

Long Lake is a 14 mile long natural lake in the central Adirondacks. Close to the Adirondack Museum, Raquette Lake, Tupper Lale, Indian Lake, and Saranac Lake. Canoeing, boating, hiking, and fishing are the main activities. While Long Lake does allow motor boats, it is a quiet escape off the beaten path, even in its high summer and early Fall seasons.
