This project is a renovation of an existing kitchen in a condominium unit located in Seattle, WA. The design focuses on creating additional storage space in the client’s kitchen while improving accessibility of all spaces without the need of assistance. The solution replaced an existing dated fridge with undercounter fridge and freezer drawers and an expanded set of cabinets that includes pull-down shelving in the upper cabinets.
The design concept is inspired by midcentury modern design and the client’s desire to have terrazzo used for one of the surfaces. The cabinet colors used for both the uppers and lowers are derived from the stone backsplash, which is designed to fit the 24-inch tiles perfectly. This, coupled with a bright white quartz countertop, brings vibrance and lightness to a space lacking in natural lighting.
